The Elizabeth Fry Society would like to thank PTBO Needs for including us as one of their featured charities during the month of June. These are just some of the purse kits we were able to create using donated items from generous community members. A special thank you to SOCKS Peterborough, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Peterborough TOPS Club, Tamara Mann, Rebecca Darroch, Amanda Farnsworth, and all of our other supporters for their donations.

Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference in a time of crisis, and these kits are extremely appreciated by the women who receive them.

Rebel With a Cause 2016: Honouring Patricia Zimmer

patricia

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Peterborough was proud to honour Patricia Zimmer as our second Rebel with a Cause. In 2015, we recognized long-time supporter Linda Slavin. This year, we honoured Patricia Zimmer, Executive Director of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Peterborough from 2011 to 2015. Patricia made a significant impact in the community and has been a source of strength for the agency. We took the opportunity to recognize Patricia for being a fearless advocate for women in the Peterborough area.

The event was held on Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 at the Peterborough Rugby Clubhouse at Nicholls Oval. A fundraiser for the Elizabeth Fry Society of Peterborough, the evening featured a silent auction and appetizers. Entertainment was provided by poet Niambi Leigh and jazz singer Carling Stephen, while MC Catherine Hanrahan of 100.5 Fresh Radio ensured a charming evening and successful live auction.
